FQS Bella Parade : Season 2 : Post # 8

Welcome to day # 8 of the Bella Parade

The color of the Day is

Bella Parade Mustard

I love the bright and crispness of this color...

Here are some of my finds on the www with this color

The first is a pouch made by my awesome co-host and someone I can now call a friend, Emily

I love the way he has used the solids along with the HSTs to compose the pouch! She's a pro at "winging" it!

Here's a fabulous Whole Cloth Quilt that Gordita spotted at a quilt show in May 2010. If you know the maker of this quilt, please tell her/him that I am totally in love  with this one!

I am ready to give away one arm (I'll need at least the other one to help me quilt) to reach this level of expertise!

Toni from Make it Perfect made this beautiful Mustard & Grey Quilt for a newly wed couple! I love her selection of color as well as the quilt!

Now coming to the fun part! This segment is the one that I enjoy the most...

Window shopping!

There are many more for you guys to select from the FQS Fat Quarter Bundles Section

And here's my FMQ Design of the day

I have quilted this piece with text...

Since I'm planning to convert this into a cushion cover, I decided to use the word "home" in different languages!

It would be wonderful to quilt the name of the recipient or the occasion on the quilt too!

Would you like to win ONE YARD of mustard?

Here's how you can

1. Create a pinboard with the name "FQS Bella Parade : Season 2"
2. Pin at least one image with the "Color of the Day" onto the board. The image has to be sewing related. Notions, sewing rooms, finished products anything.
3. Leave a comment with a link to your board.
4. The winners will be selected randomly and announced in the weekend giveaway post.
5. All entries will qualify to win the Bella Solids 2012 Fat Quarter Bundle in the weekly giveaway.
6. Pin it! And you could win it!

And tomorrow we're going to have another wonderful guest to share her choices of fabrics with you...

She is another fellow blogger whom I can call a friend!
Many of you might know her, though she has been away from the blogland for a while!

After she had reclaimed herself and found a balance between vintage and modern she's now humming her hearts tune!

Any guesses who the guest might be?

FQS Bella Parade : Season 2 : Post # 7

Welcome to day # 7 of the Bella Parade

The color of the day today is

Bella Solids Cloud

This is a beautifully soft blue color! I love its feel.

A whole cloth "cloud" quilt with simple straight line quilting would look sophisticated and regal in an all white or white-grey bedroom. This is a Laura Ashley Bedding Set.

Another solids only quilt. Bubble blue bedding for your baby boy from Sids and Kids Shop

Used with the classic brown, it really creates a totally different effect like this one made by Alissa

Cloud looks wonderful as sashing too... Especially in bright colored quilts...

It goes especially well with red, like in this beautiful quilt made by Melissa... This combination has been a favorite of a lot of fabric designers too...

Now to the fun part of selecting fabric to go with "Cloud"

I feel gravitating towards kids prints to go with this color! So most of my selections will be kids prints! And I'll also tell you if there's a discount on any of them... ;)

(Shhh... its now for $64.99 $51.99)

Did you like my selection?

Now for the FMQ Design of the day

Here's what I did on my cloud!

I quilted it with alternate vertical & horizontal continuous lines (the way I did with my Stitches and Color Quilt)

Would you like to win ONE YARD of Cloud?
Here's how you can do it...

FQS Bella Parade : Season 2 : Post # 6

Hi all, welcome to day # 6 and the color of the day today is

Bella Solids Egg Plant

Similar to but deeper than the Plum color of last week this color also is a beautiful addition to a quilt

This color looks great as sashing...

Especially in the bottled rainbow quilt block made by Katie from  Katie's Corner

I love how it coordinates with the donkey print by Laurie Wisbrun.

The use of eggplant on the sashing for this Echino log cabin quilt looks beautiful too...

Megan from Philistinemade is the maker of this beauty.

This wonderful Eggplant-Green Quilt made by Harvest Craft's Quilts' Leslie is a stunner.

Did you like the beautiful quilts?

Do hop over to their blogs and tell them that. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

Now coming to the second interesting part.

Choosing fabrics.

Like last time I'll stick to choosing FQ bundles for you to work with Bella Solids Eggplant.

I'd love to combine it with the Caterpillar Cocoon Fat Quarter BundleValori Wells for Free Spirit Fabrics. It will look regal.

The Magnolia Fresh Cut Fat Quarter BundleHeather Bailey for Free Spirit Fabrics has the freshness and the paleness to be accentuated by the dark Eggplant.

A combination with the Nightshade Fat Quarter BundleTula Pink for Free Spirit Fabrics  would be a bit daring, but I'm sure will look fantastic.

Eggplant and other bright solids used with the Multidot Fat Quarter BundleJackie Shapiro for Windham Fabrics  will make a really striking quilt, especially for the kids.

Did you like my choices?

What would you choose to use with the Eggplant?

Here's my FMQ Design of the day

This design is Malka inspired.

The squarish spirals are not easy, but not difficult to do... You can see some funny shapes where I struggled a little, but i'm happy with the way it turned out. I'd use it to quilt a quilt with a square based design!

Now would YOU like to win ONE YARD of Eggplant?

Here's how you can

1. Create a pinboard with the name "FQS Bella Parade : Season 2"
2. Pin at least one image with the "Color of the Day" onto the board. The image has to be sewing related. Notions, sewing rooms, finished products anything.
3. Leave a comment with a link to your board.
4. The winners will be selected randomly and announced in the weekend giveaway post.
5. All entries will qualify to win the Bella Solids 2012 Fat Quarter Bundle in the weekly giveaway.
6. Pin it! And you could win it!

Giving up something!

When you juggle too many things at a time, it becomes difficult to enjoy them - even though you start doing them because you enjoy them in the first place...

Something like that is happening to me...

I have too many things going on at the moment!

And to stop myself from being a nervous wreck, I decided to give up one of them!

I resigned from IMQG today. I have given them a notice of almost 2 months, and hopefully, by the end of that time, we'll find someone who's capable of handling things on that front!

I know, I'm the founder of IMQG... I started it with a vision, to provide a global platform to Indian quilters! I wanted, and still want, to help them get the exposure they really deserve...  I believe that India has a rich cultural heritage which also includes quilting... I also believe that here, craftsmen do not make money from their crafts... Its the middlemen and the merchants that actually earn money... The maker is unknown and 90% of the times poor... do you know the name of the person who designs the wonderful block prints of Baroda? Or the beautiful Kalamkari? Do the Kantha sarees carry a label with the name of the craftman on them along with the shop's name?  That is what I wanted to (and still want to) change!

I wanted to be the hand that helps the unknown artists climb onto a global platform...

And I'm really looking for someone who shares my vision to take charge of the group...

I have to step down because, I'm feeling too stressed out at the moment... And I know that inspite of being a good quilter, I'm not a very good administrator... What IMQG needs right now is a good administrator.

The energy that goes into all the decision making and execution is beyond my personal limit at the moment...

I hope you will agree with me and support me when I say that it is for the best that I resign and be there to guide the new leader, rather than go on leading, get stressed and make mistakes and fall on my face!

How to win 20 half yards of Bella Solids...

I wasn't joking earlier when I told you guys that you could win a HALF YARD bundle of the 2012 Bella Solids!

All 20 of them!

Thats a total of 10 yards of fabric!!!

Isn't that awesome?

Now let me tell you HOW you can win it!

Every week, we will be having a guest blogger talk about fabric combos, like Jane did yesterday. The same blogger will also be doing another post, a tutorial for something that can easily be made in a day!

Some time today or early tomorrow, the post on Jane's blog will be live.

There will be 5 such tutorials in all.

To win the HY Bundle from Fat Quarter Shop you have to make at least one of the 5 tutorials featured.

You're free to make small changes (sizes etc) to suit your purpose, but you will have to actually MAKE something to enter the contest.

The Contest will open from tomorrow - May 27, 2012 and will go on till July 1, 2012.

To enter your entry you will have to write a blog post about what you made including pictures of it and leaving the link to it in the comment! On any of the posts titleFQS Bella Parade Contest"

The 5 guest bloggers along with someone from Fat Quarter Shop will be the judges. The winner will be declared on July 8, 2012.

So ready for some awesome fun???

Meanwhile, keep on pinning to keep on winning!

Remember, I'll be drawing winners for this week tomorrow evening (my time). So you still have about 24 hours to enter the current giveaways!
