I'm still here!!!

I know I have not been around a lot lately, but I'm secretly hoping some of you must have noticed! And some of you must have been worried or bothered!!!

Well, to cut a long story short - my absence of almost a month - was a result of several factors...

First was a tumble that I hinted at in one of my posts... Well, I fell down a flight of stairs and hurt my tailbone! It was pretty painful and took a super long time to recover. And the fact that I made a short trip back home did not really help the recovery!

So after 15 days of minimal sitting and spending a lot of time either lying in bed or standing up I was able to touch the chair with my bottom!

This was followed by another trip back home that was planned only for 4 days and went on to be 15 days!!! LOL!

I had gone to plan an upcoming event in the family (I do not yet have permission from the person concerned to share it on the blog - but after 22nd May you'll all know!) and not only ended up deciding the date : 22nd May as you all must have guessed - but also ended up celebrating a part of it before I reached home this Sunday!

These 15 days were filled with a lot of shopping - Sarees for me (yay!) an everyone else, invitations, food planning and a lot more!!!

In between all this craziness, I also managed to pay a long due visit to the Bernina Creative Center in Mumbai! Finally we have a place in India where not only do we have all the notions required for the work but also a space that is as inspiring as this one!

Here's what the space looks like!

Apart from having all these wonderful machines not just for display but to work on too, the space also has a huge collection of Notions...

Machine Accessories

Cutting and Sewing Notions

Some more notions...

Thread! A lot of it - both cotton as well as polyester!

It also has a room that we all can use for future meets and workshops!!!

This space can accommodate up to 20 people (15 comfortably). Bernina has already introduced a series of Patchwork and Quilting Courses for beginner and intermediate quilters. We're looking forward to a whole new world of quilting opening up to us here!!!

I gifted Mr Gupta of Bernina my latest finish - Nukkad (named as suggested by my wonderful cousin, Yogesh, from Singapore).

Here's a better shot of the quilt...

The solids are roads and gullys and the colorful scraps are the plots and houses in the neighborhood...

I so loved making this - most of the fabric used came from my echino scrap bag... I pieced them without ANY planning... Just stitched together pieces randomly and then trimmed them to size, sometimes making strips and adding and removing stuff just totally randomly...

Here's a detail of the quilting...

And another. I quilted each piece with a different design... I did repeat the designs, but overall it was awesome fun to do it!

And the back...

My next 2 weeks are going to be crazy too! Once I get permission from the concerned person to make an announcement, I will!

But I will just say one thing, I've never been happier in my life!

Here's something else that I did...

Wish you all a happy month ahead too!!! I'll be back when I have enough time from silks and delicious food!!!

Cheers!!!
