I have been doing cutting almost all day today... And what do I have at the end of the day?
157 hexagons!
13 half-hexagons!!

50 corner pieces!!!
And yes, I do count the tally way! Its far easy to keep track...
All waiting to be made into a wonderful quilt...
Its my first attempt at Y seams...
I have done my homework and am ready to start piecing it on Monday!
Hoping it should be ready by next weekend. Its a large one this time! 75" x 82"
Do you like my plan?
Those yummy scraps make me think some more... There are quite a lot of equilateral triangles in there...
Any ideas?

Oh my what a lot of cutting! Good luck with the y seams. I haven't been brave enough to try them yet. I'm sure you'll be brilliant at it!

I'm always so surprised when people are scared of curved seams and y seams. I guess after years and years of sewing clothing for round bodies, sewing for a flat quilt is just easier. If you can sew a set in sleave and not have puckers or gathers, a flat curves easy. As for Y seams, I pin at the begining and end of the sewing line and stop sewing 1 stitch before the pin and then reverse for a couple of stitches. The extra 1/16 of an inch is covered by the seams and gives you a little "wiggle" room to iron the seam flat. Good Luck.
