Portrait Quilt... WIP

Thought I would share with you the progress I have made on my Portrait Quilt...

I scrapped the 1.5" squares method because the seams were getting too thick and I realized I would not be able to quilt it properly...

This project is no more a secret (DH walked in on me working so now he knows I'm making this - It was supposed to be a surprise gift for him...) But none of the other family members know... But they do not read my blog or are on Facebook, so I need not worry! :)

Here's the original photograph...

He's DH's great-grandfather who started our family business 100 years back! I'm making this quilt as a gift to DH's family to celebrate the centenary!

I changed the technique... Now since I have a bolt of Pellon Wonder Under (#805 ) that I picked up on my trip to Dubai, I decided to raw edge applique the pieces together...

Here's the state of my work yesterday morning...

With one full day without the kid at home and DH out of town here's my progress so far...

I plan to finish it by the end of the next week!

What are you currently working on...

  2. You are very fast. It takes me forever to decide on just what fabric to use for each piece, etc., etc. Looks good!

  3. Amazing! I can't wait to see how it finishes up, that's fantastic. I'd never be brave enough to try a technique like that...seems like you need to be a real artist to accomplish it.

Thank you for your comments... I try to reply to all of them personally, but sometimes life is just too fast to do that... But I love hearing from you...
