Day 7 - 31 days blog writing challenge - Dream project

Today's prompt is Dream project
And I believe that I just recently finished it.

In March 2018, I started working on an ambitious quilt project. It was a 19' x 8' quilt depicting the event of Shivarajyabhishek - coronation of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

This was just 1/3 rd of the quilt!

I started working on 23rd March 2018 and finished the applique process on 6th on January. It took me about 700 hours over those 10 months to applique more than 20000 pieces ranging from the smallest one being 1/16" to the largest one being over 36" long!

It took my friend Manisha from Baani Studio another 50 hours to quilt it on her long arm.

It was a long tiring process, filled with a lot of repetition. But one piece at a  time, we managed to finish it in time to show it off at the India Quilt Festival in Chennai

Later, it traveled to the USA to be displayed at the International Quilt Festival in Houston.

I am looking forward to traveling with the quilt myself and talking about it all over the world.

I have a Facebook page dedicated to this quilt. So if you want to invite me to display the quilt and talk about it and teach the technique (my friend Tina calls it the Fast and Furious technique since 20000 pieces  in 700 hours is super fast!) drop me a line here or on my page.

What is  your dream project? Have you finished it? Or are you still working on it?

Thank you for your comments... I try to reply to all of them personally, but sometimes life is just too fast to do that... But I love hearing from you...
