SSF Week # 6 : Cutting Tables

Hello guys, Wish you a very happy Valentine's day! All those who are madly in love with your partners, I wish you many years of madness ahead... And those who are still single, I wish that you find the person who can share your soul!

Thank you all for your encouragement with my attempt at Fabric design. I have a few plans on my mind, and will be working on them gradually...

And now moving on to next week... This week we're focusing on the Cutting Tables...

Here's mine... This is how it evolved!!!

First it was a little space on the sewing table that I thought was big...

Next it became this

A dedicated table for cutting...
After that it morphed into this

A large desk that I used for everthing... Right smack in the ceter of the room... But very soon I realized things were not working out for me... So this is what it turned into after the arrival of my BIG CUTTING MAT!!! I'm getting a replacement for this one from Keepsake Quilting... Apparently they should have shipped it flat and they rolled it which caused those bumps! So they have already sent me one and it must be in some PO at this moment! The guys at KQ were awfully nice!

Through out all these phases one thing remained unchanged though, my small table with  the 3 baskets...

Basket 1

Basket 2

Basket 3

The baskets are still there... But now, The first one on the left holds my cutting tools... The second one holds stationary... And the third one holds velcro, tape and tit-bits that I need while sewing...

My rulers are held in place by this cute little napkin holder...

Rulers

The place under this table holds all my scrap boxes...

This has been an unchanged feature of my room for a long time now and I guess thats because it has worked for me...

This week our generous sponsors have for us

One winner will get

Oasis Jelly Roll
3 Sisters for Moda Fabrics

and another one will get

Max & Whiskers Layer Cake
Basic Grey for Moda Fabrics

Isn't that fun??? What are you waiting for... To  win do the usual

  48. It's nice that you finally have a big cutting space. I found the same thing in my sewing space. One size table seemed enough, then bigger, then i still need a bigger space. I like the napkin holder idea to hold the rulers. Thanks for the chance to win in your giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I like your space, it's a lot more organized than mine is! I know you will love having that larger cutting area - you just have to keep the piles off of it so you have room to work (ask me how I know this!).

  67. I have a nice sewing/scrapbooking room now but dh has suggested that we move the sewing operation upstairs into my college girl's bedroom. The light is WONDERFUL, it overlooks the creek and being on the main level I could have a few things going at once without losing track of what is in the dryer or the oven or on the ironing board. We shall see.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I use a large desk for my sewing machine too. I love having drawers that I can keep my notions in and near the machine.
