Favorite Things Friday!!!

Its that time of the week...

I really loved doing Favorite things Friday every week with Shay, but somehow, life took over and it got side tracked.

But now I'm back, and I'm back to stay...

So, what is my FTF this Friday?

Well its IMQG! The India Modern Quilt Guild!

We have a FB page and a blog too...

We started in September with 3 members! I remember it was Shilpa, Vidya and myself! I had very high hopes for it. But practically the situation was that apart from the two of these girls, I did not know anyone who quilted, in India.

But we decided to give it a try. It was very difficult to decide the platform. We then decided that since a lot of people use FB, it would be easier to have that as our launch pad. And we did.

Remember we are a country where you do not get designer fabric, quilting notions etc.

And today we are 69 ladies, roaring to go!

We are meeting too!

We are all spread across the whole wide country, 3287263 sq. km (1269219 sq. mi)!

But we are all coming together at this fantastic resort in April for 3 days!

Can you all imagine how much fun we all are going to have?

I'm so looking forward to it!

And I'm planning a lot for it too... I've even ordered some fun stuff to do while we're there...

759 pieces of pure fun!

(Shhhh, did you know Interweave have a 70% off on that one? its just for $3.24! Go here to buy it)

I have loved planning it all too, especially the door prizes (actually goodie bags - they dont need to do anything to win it!). I have been collecting a lot of things to put into the goodie bags. And I have some wonderful sponsors pitching in too! :)

The girls are going to go crazy! If you want to send something for the goodie bag for the girls contact me.

Thats my favorite thing this Friday - my IMQG! To check out what is the others' head over to the fabulous blog of Shay - better known as Mrs P!

Favorite Things Friday

Its been quite some time since I have joined Shay's blog hop...

I have been missing it, but I have had a lot on my mind lately... So I decided to opt out of it...

But I want to jump into it again... And here I am with my favorite thing this week...

Planning!

I am an architect and planning is what I have been taught to do... If you just went on adding one room after the other to make a house how would that look?

Well, its not ugly, but you'll never know what it will look like till its done and do you have that kind of patience? Or money?

Apply the same to entire aspect of your life...

If you do not plan (you might not go through it, but it would be good to actually have a plan) you will never know in which direction to go!

Yes, life throws you off course, then what? Make a new plan! Who said we cannot do that?

I love to plan everything... I might not actually go ahead and do the stuff I have planned, but I do have a plan!

Like my weightloss plan! Did you know that if I follow it I will reach my ideal weight of 130 lbs before my next birthday!!! Wow! Sometimes just knowing the destination makes you so happy that you do not bother to go through with the plan! LOL...

Same goes to my quilt...

I have a lot of notebooks that have these pages...

Okay, the photo is upside down, but you can get the gist!

I have many like this too...

If I were to actually make all the quilts I planned, I would sell them and be RICH!

I love the process of planning more than the process of implementing it... (Would I not be thinner if I would have implemented it?) I love making lists and dreaming.

And thats what is my favorite thing this week, PLANNING!!!

What about you? Do you plan things or do you do them randomly?

I'd love to know...

Cheers!!!

Favorite things Friday!!!

Hi all, Welcome to the first Favorite Things Friday of the new year!!! I'm so glad to be linking up with all the fabulous girls out there...

So what is my Favorite Thing this Friday???

Do you guys remember the cutting mat that I ordered from Keepsake Quilting???

Well, I emailed Sullivan's to ask them about removing the bumps on my mat...

And a few days back I got a mail from the generous Maggie at KQ telling me that they regret rolling that mat while shipping and they should have shipped it flat... They also informed me that they are sending me another mat same size FREE OF COST and I need not send them the old mat!!!

So they just have to be my favorite thing this Friday!!! It is really generous of them to send the mat all the way to INDIA!!! I now that shipping that item is going to cost them a lot, and by a lot I mean around 50 - 60 USD!!!

Thank you guys at KQ!!! I love you all...

That was my Favorite Thing this Friday, whats yours??? Link up the fun party at Quilting in my Pyjamas!!!

Cheers!!!

Favorite Things Friday...

Officially Mrs P's FTF is on a break... But how can I not share my favorite thing this Friday with you guys...
He has been on my Favorites list for a long time, and will be there for a long time too...

My Favorite thing this Friday HAS to be this Man in Blue... The Postman!!!

Especially since he got me this... Marilyn said she was sending half yard, but she sent a full yard along with some gorgeous prints too... Its Birthday a week early for me!!! YAY!!!

Did you notice something else in the snap??? YUP!!! MY Orange-Red HUGE cutting mat is here too!!!

Isn't my table looking a tad bit small??? LOL... And look at my old green mat on the table in the corner, I wonder how I thought it was large for me!!! It looks tiny now...

I must say, this mat is wonderful... The grid is in black on the orange side and in white on the red side...

Now I just have a small issue... It was rolled while packing and has these two bumps...

Any idea how I can get rid of them??? Or do I tape it down to my table??? I'm afraid I might spoil it by doing something stupid... I'd appreciate some help here...

So whats your favorite thing this friday???

Tell me in your comments this time... And join us after a few weeks back on Mrs P's 'Quilting in my Pyjamas'

Cheers!!!

Favorite Things Friday!!!

Here's the last Favorite Things Friday for 2010. And for this special one, I have chosen one of the three favorite men in my life... My little brother - Chaitanya!!!

Not because he gave me my own domain name, not because he gave me a $ 200 shopping spree... but because he's been such a dear right since our childhood...

He's five years younger to me... We stayed in a joint family - My dad and his brother stay together - even today... So Chai, me and my uncle's sons - Ashwin and Ashutosh (I never call them cousins, they are indeed my brothers as much as Chai is) grew up together in our house in Satara. We had an adventurous childhood...

Thats us at the opening of my Dad's factory... And this is our house...

Which now looks like this

He was just 6 years old when my mom, dad and he met with an accident... It was a terrible one... And for the next couple of years dad was hopping in and out of hospitals, being operated on... and was finally able to stand on his feet (both his legs had multiple fractures) about 3 years later!!! This was the period that I and Chai came real close... Mom had to stay in Pune with dad and both of us stayed with our uncle and aunt in Satara...

He was always a naughty child... you coud see it in his eyes... He never waited to break open any toy you gave him to watch how it works... He was obsessed with everything that moved on its own that was not living!!! LOL...

He was in 8th grade, when we got him (he pestered us till we got him) a small deisel engine... I remember him running it and our neighbor running out of her home to get him to stop him... Her 3 month old baby was a light sleeper and everytime he would lie for a nap, Chai's engine would roar and wake the kid up!!! LOL!!!

He was a great actor... a quality that came handy when he had been real naughty... He worked in the school play every year and was a real hit!!!

After my marriage, he was the one I missed the most... I missed those long talks we had in the room that we shared... The secrets that we shared... It was a lovely realtionship - it still is...

Over these years, my kid brother has matured into a wonderful man... He is loving, caring, intelligent, sensitive, sensible, hard working, innovative, joyful (thats what his name suggests), motivating, and yes, he is still SINGLE!!! I'd love to see him settled down with some fine young lady who compliments him in every sense...

And today is a big day for him!!! He designs softwares for Apple - ipads, iphones and mac pcs and macbooks... He is releasing his forst application today... Verbs... Here's the link to it... If you are an iphone user - please check it out... It is a simple instant messaging client that supports GTalk and integrates Cloudapp to send photos and download/view files in the received Cloudapp messages...

Dont forget to do a review...  Right now it has a 4+ rating by apple... And its only for $2.99!!!

Thats, Chaitanya, my little bro' - now all grown up - I'm so proud of you bro'... My favorite thing this friday... Whats yours? Jump over to Quilting in my Pyjamas and share, I'm dying to know...

Cheers!!!

Favorite Thing Fridays...

Though its almost 1/3rd into December, winter only just began in Sangli... We have only had to use the large, thick quilt for 2 nights!!!

Winter is my favorite season out here... Its lovely in the morning with mist and dewdrops... Its sunny during the day... But not too hot... And the nights are perfect for a cuddle with your favorite quilt... I love winters!!!

This was what it looked like in my yard today morning...

Thats looking away from my house...

Thats my house on the left... the little bit that you can see... Its 3 storeys - Ground Floor is DH's shop... First Floor is used by MIL & FIL and Second Floor is me and DH with Aadi shifting between the 3 floors throughout the day...

Aadi had sports' competitions in School today so had to go early... 7.15 and we were waiting at the door for the rickshaw to pick him up...

And about his competition... well, I'll need another post to tell you what happened...

But thats my short and sweet - Favorite Thing this Friday... Whats yours?? Hop over to Quilting in my Pyjamas and share...
