A Bonus Day...

I was supposed to be in Satara today with my parents... And then today evening in Pune with my little brother celebrating Raksha Bandhan... And tomorrow morning I was going to leave for the Husqvarna Viking "Master the Art :Quilting" Meet to be held over the weekend in Mumbai...

Those of you who have been following me know that I have 3 wonderful brothers...  We celebrate the beautiful bond between us on this day...

All 3 are younger to me... But they're a rock solid wall that I can lean on any moment...

I'm looking forward to a much more happier and gala rakhi celebrations next year! But this year, its going to be insignificant as other, more important things take priorities!

For some reason I cancelled my trip to Satara and Pune... And instead I will be taking a bus directly from Sangli to Mumbai...

So I have an extra day!!!

I had finished all my packing yesterday as I was supposed to leaving early morning today...

The bag was packed...

The door to the sewing room was shut tight... I dont want anyone to see the view...

So what do I do with this day???

Well after looking at that photo I feel - cleaning the sewing room would be a good idea! Maybe I'll do that or maybe I'll just relax and watch TV and just chill in general!

So I said I'm off to a quilting meet...

Husqvarna Viking has organized "Master the Art : Quilting" workshop in Mumbai this weekend... And they have invited all the India Modern Quilt Guild members...

Ms Gabriele Mossa will be coming specially from Germany for guiding us with different surface embellishment techniques... I'm taking along my Turning Triangles quilt top... Looking forward to what magic she can help me create!

Ms. Devayanee Kachare a super talented fibre artist from Pune will also be demonstrating Hand embellishment and Fabric Painting!

There is another quilter who's going to give a demo... Not as good as the other two, but not bad either!

Yup!!! I'll be giving a small demonstration of the Improv style of quilting!!! Yay! I'm absolutely excited!

Will update all you guys how it went when I'm back...

Yesterday, I had gone shopping for furnishings with a friend... We recently finished doing her new house... And she had a party this weekend... I dread her choices in color... She truly is happy to pair a beige mat with a brown bedding and navy blue pillows and thinks it must be the weather that's kind of depressing!

So we were shopping for some pillows and stuff... And we came across this beautiful Kantha Quilt! We bought a Red one with colorful flowers for her and then...

She bought a White one for me!!!

You shouldn't really gift a quilter a ready made quilt... But I love this one...

Not only it is perfect for my Living-Dining Room, but it goes well with Aadi's Pillow too! :)

The fabric is pretty Anna Maria Hornerish! And I love the detailing of the work...

When she bought it for me, the first thought that came to my mind was...

I felt guilty for buying something that I could easily make... But then I felt good! I loved that quilt and knew it would look PERFECT in my home!

Happy to receive a quilt from someone!

Now I'm planning to buy some coordinating fabrics on my trip to make pillows for the day bed!

Have you bought a quilt for yourselves? Do you feel guilty for buying something that you can make?

Cheers!!!

The Kitchen...

Remember I told you I was getting my house done???

Well, my kitchen is finally ready!

It was my old studio that looked like this

then for a long time it looked like this

and

I had dreamt of transforming it into something like this

Though not exactly the same, I have come nearer to my dream...

My kitchen now look something like this...

I absolutely love that clock... I am thinking of painting it yellow though...

bringing a little spice and some color into the kitchen...

My earlier living room is also now transformed into a living-dining space...

We replaced the open arches with doors...
I did not want all the dust to come into the house...
There's a lot of work to be done still, the floor needs to be painted, some rugs need to be bought...

I was thinking of some beautiful colorful cotton rag rugs...

This was what my living room looked like earlier...

And this is what it looks like now...

And the dining area...

Unfortunately, the swing will have to go... With a new cabinet coming on the wall, I wont be having much space here...

The rest of the house is still a mess... But I'm hoping it will be done before Diwali!

Cheers!!!

Renovations... Dreams...

Finally, after a week of destruction, most of the demolition work at home is done!

I'm glad that now, when I see in the evening, there will be something that has been constructed rather than demolished! Such a positive feeling...

Here's how it looks right now,

My to-be kitchen!

I love the fact that big window will be the one I'll be looking out of when I do my dishes! That's the most beautiful that it can be!

Here's the view from my to-be dining room...

The arches have been removed and large openings - rectangular - have been made!

The toilet that was removed... This will be where I'll keep my washing machine...

And this will be my laundry room!

I so love dreaming!

I'm glad that I can imagine these spaces to be beautiful... I'm dying to finish the transformations...

Cannot wait to see this

turn into this

and this

into

Imagination is what is helping me go through this... Though I'll be really glad when this is over...

Going away...

I had talked about 'wall art' to you guys some time back... Well there are two types of wall arts in my home... 'Mommy arts' and 'kiddo arts'... You've seen mommy arts, now here's kiddo arts...

Thats kiddo in action...

there's trains, mangoes, helicopters, 'A's, and tons of windmills!

Yeah, and balloons...

His 'current' obsession is houses... I had to draw them for him to color... But now he draws them on his own...

Thats where we stamp!!! all veggie stamps and other watercolor painting...

We also have an apple tree... I drew the outline and filled it with colors... One morning it even had apples! Aadi told me they were mangoes (he loves them) but since he could not find the yellow crayon, it had to be red... How cute is that???

Here's another water color wall...

We also did a bit of sponge painting!!!

Here's houses and windmills again...

Thats the room!!! Now you know where all that inspiration comes from... In my house everyone is welcome to pick up a crayon and scribble on any wall they like in my Kitchen, Dining and my Computer room (we haven't painted them yet and will not be doing it till Aadi is 7 yr old)!!!

Would you like to join???

Coming to the fun part...

I'm finally leaving for my long publicised and awaited vacation with my family (no hubby but parents and cousins)... I'm really excited... The last vacation I went without hubby was to Singapore with Ashutosh... It was more of a work trip though... I know I'll miss him, since Goa's our favorite-st place! We've been here twice already... And I'm sure we'll go there many more times...

While i'm away I am not going to let you all forget me... LOL... A few of my dear friends have agreed to do a few guest posts for me in this period... I'm sure you guys will enjoy them...

Dont forget to comment to win $100 worth of fabric from Fat Quarter Shop... The post is here...

Cheers and have fun!!!
